Questions
What is a pip worth?
On pairs quoted in US dollars (EUR/USD, GBP/USD, AUD/USD, NZD/USD), 1 pip is $10 on a standard lot (100,000 units), $1 on a mini lot and $0.10 on a micro lot.
How do I calculate lot size in Forex?
Lots = dollars you are willing to lose ÷ (stop in pips × pip value per lot). $250 risk with a 25-pip stop on EUR/USD: 25 × $10 = $250 per standard lot, so 1 standard lot.
Why only USD-quoted pairs?
For those pairs the pip value in dollars is fixed, so no exchange rate is needed and the answer is exact. Pairs like USD/JPY need a live rate.
